Alstroemeria
The alstroemeria belongs to the amaryllis family and can be recognised by its twisted leaves and brightly coloured flowers. Alstroemeria are grown and harvested all year round and are available in countless colours. The alstroemeria has its origins in the Andes, and the flower can also be found in Chile and Brazil. In the Netherlands, the alstroemeria is also known as the inca lily. With its lily-like flowers in many colour gradients, the alstroemeria is a real sun worshipper. The different petals of the alstroemeria all carry their own meaning: compassion, patience, understanding, humour, decisiveness and respect. All these meanings together symbolise a long-lasting friendship.
